Congratulations to the winning class of the Canada's Coolest School Trip contest!

We are delighted to offer our most heartfelt congratulations to the Grade 8 Class at Montague Intermediate School from Montague, PEI, for being selected as the winners of Canada's Coolest School Trip! As the contest winners, the entire class will be travelling to Banff National Park for an unforgettable 4-day, 3-night adventure, courtesy of Brewster Travel and Banff Lake Louise Tourism.

Today’s featured videos: “The Nahanni Valley” and “You Can Learn a Lot From National Parks”

Up next on our features series of videos which have made it to our Top 10 are two more great videos. The first, titled “The Nahanni Valley” comes from the grade 8 class at Silverspring School in Saskatoon. Their video tells the tale of the McLeod brothers and their experiences in the Nahanni Valley during the Yukon Gold Rush. Here is what they have to say about the story they chose to tell:

Today’s featured videos: “The Charlottetown Conference…The Beginning of Canada” and “The Charlottetown Conference of 1864”

For the final blog post featuring the Top 10 videos in the Canada’s Coolest School Trip contest, we’ve chosen to team up two videos from different schools in the province of PEI. Both schools chose to recreate the events that happened at the Charlottetown Conference of 1864, and have each added their own unique touches to the telling of this incredible story.

Today’s featured videos: “A Window Into Ukkusiksalik National Park” and “Dawson City Historical Complex”

This week, the two videos we’ll be featuring from the Top 10 are about two Parks Canada sites that are pretty far removed from most of the country’s population – the first is about a national park in Nunavut and the second is about a national historic site in the Yukon.

Today’s featured videos: “More Than Just a Walk in the Park” and “Torngat Mountains National Park”

Today, the videos we’ll be featuring come from grade 8 classes in different parts of Newfoundland and Labrador.

The first grade 8 class, from Holy Cross School in Eastport, chose Terra Nova National Park as the topic for their video.  Here is what they have to say about the history and importance of the park:

Today’s featured videos: “Tale of the Dawson Gold Rush” and “The Story of Grey Owl”

Canada's Coolest School Trip: Help us pick the top 10 videos!

From Port Alberni in British Columbia all the way to Nain in Newfoundland and Labrador, we have received videos from Grade 8 and Secondary 2 classes from coast to coast to coast – quite literally. Dozens of schools in every province and even one from as far as Repulse Bay in Nunavut have submitted videos that recreate significant moments related to Canada’s national parks, national historic sites and national marine conservation areas, all in the hopes of winning Canada’s Coolest School Trip.

Canada's Coolest School Trip: Voting Opens Next Week!

Over the last several months, we’ve been asking Grade 8 and Secondaire II students from all over Canada to make a short video that recreates a significant moment related to a national park, national historic site or national marine conservation area to help them win Canada’s Coolest School Trip – a 4-day, 3-night adventure for their entire class in Banff. We’ve received dozens of great videos from classes across the country, and we’re incredibly impressed by each and every one of them.
